A gloriously lazy comfort food that combines frozen tater tots with canned chili and melted cheddar cheese, perfect for a quick, satisfying meal.

- 1 bag of frozen tater tots
- 2 cans of chili (with or without beans)
- 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup of sour cream
- 1/2 cup of chopped green onions
- Pickled jalapenos (optional)
- Crumbled bacon (optional)
- A handful of chopped cilantro (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) with a rack in the middle position.
- Spread the frozen tater tots evenly across the bottom of a large baking dish.
- Pour the chili over the tater tots, spreading it evenly.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese generously.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve with a dollop of sour cream and sprinkle with chopped green onions; add optional jalapenos or bacon if desired.
Notes
For a crispier top, broil for the last 2-3 minutes, but keep a close eye on it. You can use ground beef or turkey instead of canned chili for a fresher flavor.
