  • Author: Sara
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: Varies by size of raindrops

Description

Turn old blue crayons into magical raindrop suncatchers with this fun and creative wax-melting craft for kids!

Ingredients

  • Blue crayons
  • Pencil or crayon sharpener
  • Waxed paper
  • Iron (for adult use only)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Select your favorite blue crayons and peel off the wrappers.
  2. Use a sharpener to create shavings from the crayons. Spread them on a large sheet of waxed paper.
  3. Cut a second sheet of waxed paper and place it over the shavings.
  4. With an adult’s help, gently iron over the top sheet on the lowest setting until the crayon shavings melt.
  5. Let the wax cool completely and harden.
  6. Draw raindrop shapes on the cooled wax and cut them out with scissors.
  7. Punch a hole at the top of each raindrop and thread with embroidery floss or string.
  8. Hang near a window for a beautiful, blue display of handmade raindrop suncatchers!

Notes

Try layering different shades of blue or adding a hint of white for a cloudy effect. Always supervise children when using an iron.
