Crispy honey garlic tofu recipe that will amaze you!

Ingredients

  • 400 grams (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 4 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for vegan option)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Vegetable oil for frying (about 1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Drain the firm tofu and press it for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into uniform bite-sized cubes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil to create the honey garlic sauce.
  4. Coat each tofu cube evenly in cornstarch.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the tofu cubes until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the fried tofu and place it on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Return the skillet to medium heat, pour in the honey garlic sauce, and let it simmer for about a minute.
  8. Add the crispy tofu to the sauce and gently toss to coat.
  9. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, then serve immediately.

Notes

  1. For a vegan option, substitute honey with maple syrup. You can also add chili flakes for a spicy kick.
