Description

A delicious, foolproof garlic parmesan herb bread that is easy to make and sure to impress.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (about 100-110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 to cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon butter, split for topping
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine yeast, sugar, and warm water in a large bowl and let it sit for a minute until foamy.
  2. Stir in salt, herbs, and garlic until well blended.
  3. Add 2 cups of flour and parmesan cheese to the bowl and mix to form a sticky dough.
  4. Gradually add more flour while mixing until the dough is soft and stretchy.
  5. Oil a bowl and place the dough inside, covering it with a towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
  7. Gently punch down the dough and divide it into two balls, shaping them into rounds on the baking sheet.
  8. Cover loosely and let them rise for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  9. Brush half a tablespoon of butter on top of each dough round before baking.
  10. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden and hollow sounding when tapped underneath.
  11. Remove from the oven, transfer to a cooling rack, and allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or dunk it into soup for a comforting meal.
