Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • Cooking spray
  • Additional sugar and cinnamon for coating

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Add the water and applesauce and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Using a spoon, scoop small amounts of the dough and shape them into bite-sized balls.
  5. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and place the dough balls in a single layer.
  6. Air fry for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. In a separate bowl, mix additional sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Once the churro bites are cooked, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture while they are still warm.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy your healthier churro bites!

Notes

  1. Keep your hands wet while shaping the balls to prevent sticking. Don't overcrowd the basket for optimal crispiness.
