Description
Create glowing homemade bug repellent jars with citrus, rosemary, and essential oils to naturally keep mosquitoes away.
Ingredients
– 2 (8 oz) Mason jars
– 1 (16 oz) Mason jar
– 40 drops rosemary essential oil
– 1 lemon
– 2 key limes or 1 lime
– 8 fresh rosemary sprigs
– 3 tea light candles
– 32 oz water These natural elements combine to create a fresh, aromatic blend that repels mosquitoes and adds a pleasant fragrance to your environment. The use of citrus and rosemary offers a clean scent, while the floating candles bring a warm, ambient glow.
Instructions
1. Slice the Citrus: Cut the lemon and limes into thin, round slices for both visual appeal and aromatic effect.
2. Fill the Small Jars: Place 3–4 slices of lemon and lime in each 8 oz Mason jar to create a layered and decorative look.
3. Prepare the Large Jar: Add 4 sprigs of rosemary to the 16 oz jar, and 2 sprigs to each of the small jars.
4. Mix the Oil and Water: In a separate bowl, combine 32 oz of water with 40 drops of rosemary essential oil. Stir well to distribute the oil.
5. Fill the Jars: Pour the scented water into all three jars, covering the fruit and herbs, but leave room for the floating candles.
6. Add Tea Lights: Remove tea lights from their aluminum holders and place one candle on the surface of each jar.
7. Light and Place: Light the candles and position the jars around your outdoor space to enjoy their glow and mosquito-repelling scent.
Notes
Use citronella oil in place of rosemary if preferred. Refresh contents every 2–3 days for maximum effect. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
