Ingredients
9 lasagna noodles
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups marinara sauce
2 cups ricotta cheese
1 egg
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)

Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
In a skillet, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
Add ground beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth.
In a baking dish, start layering: place sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese, and repeat layers. Finish with noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until bubbly.
Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
Leftovers taste even better the next day! This recipe can easily be doubled for larger groups.
