Ingredients

  • Translucent plastic pony beads (or glow-in-the-dark beads)
  • Metal baking molds, muffin tins, or cookie cutters
  • Aluminum foil
  • Optional: metal jump rings or drill (for hanging hole)
  • String, twine, or fishing line
  • Oven or toaster oven
  • Optional: glow-in-the-dark paint for added glow effect

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking tray with aluminum foil.
  2. Arrange the pony beads in a single layer inside a metal baking mold or cookie cutter placed on the foil. Be creative with colors and patterns.
  3. Bake for 15–25 minutes, until the beads are fully melted.
  4. Cool the suncatchers for about 15 minutes before removing them from the mold. Handle with care.
  5. (Optional) Use a drill or heated skewer to make a hole for hanging.
  6. Thread string, twine, or fishing line through the hole and hang your suncatcher in a sunny spot.

Notes

  1. Always use proper ventilation when melting plastic. Great for kids with supervision. Try glow-in-the-dark paint to boost nighttime sparkle!
