Pizza Tot Casserole: A Beginner's Guide to Comfort Food Heaven

Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cups marinara sauce
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
Optional toppings: mini pepperoni, olives, bell pepper, green onions, mushrooms

Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook until browned and softened, about 5 to 7 minutes.
Drain excess grease from the skillet.
Return the meat and onions to the skillet, then add marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and simmer for a couple of minutes.
Spread the beef and sauce mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella over the beef.
Arrange the tater tots in a single layer on top.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of the tater tots.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until tater tots are golden and cheese is bubbly.
If using toppings, add them and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, swap ground beef with beans or plant crumbles.
