- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream (use 1/2 cup for the recipe, rest optional)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional seasonings (garlic powder, paprika, or any favorite spices)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add diced onion, salt, pepper, and optional spices. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. Heat through for 2-3 minutes.
- Grease a casserole dish and layer the beef mixture evenly.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.
- Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until tater tots are golden and crispy.
- Add the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese and bake for an additional 5 minutes until melted.
- Cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish as desired.
Notes
Feel free to customize the casserole with extra spices, vegetables, or cheese varieties. Ensure to drain the beef to avoid sogginess.
